Blackwall Tunnel closure
The 113-year-old river crossing will be closed from 9pm on Thursday, April 21, to 5am on Tuesday, April 26, and drivers are being advised to avoid the area where possible.
This closure will enable the refurbishment to be completed one year ahead of schedule.
Transport for London has put various measures in place to avoid disruption:
- The Rotherhithe Tunnel will operate two lanes southbound, while the Blackwall Tunnel will carry northbound traffic only
- Drivers will be able to use alternative river crossings including Southwark Bridge, London Bridge and Tower Bridge and the Dartford Crossing
- The Woolwich Ferry will be operating a two-boat service over the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Monday 6.10am to 10pm and Sunday 9am to 9.30pm)
