Transport for London comment on the Budget

17 March 2004

Commenting on the Chancellor's budget announcement today TfL's Managing Director of Finance and Planning Jay Walder said:

"TfL welcomes the Chancellor's announcement today that transport funding will not be facing cuts but real term growth. The Chancellor clearly recognises that transport requires long-term investment to deliver infrastructure improvements to benefit both business and communities.

"TfL is continuing its discussions with government and we will press our case in the Spending Review later this year. This reflects the additional demands that face London by 2016, including an extra two million trips on the network a day."
