'My other car is a bus' - new advertising campaign

14 October 2004

Transport for London (TfL) has launched a new £2million advertising campaign aimed at increasing bus use during off peak hours.

campaign will run over three months via TV, radio, cinema and print advertising. The campaign's message will be reinforced with promotional events at 20 key sites across London and on advertising at bus stops and buses. The campaign is specifically aimed at families and school children in an effort to ease suburban congestion and to promote buses as a viable and easy alternative to cars.

Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, said: "Buses offer a high quality, reliable and convenient alternative to the car especially for shorter journeys.

"By making more bus journeys, and reducing car congestion, people can help to make London a cleaner, safer and more pleasant city."

TfL's Managing Director of Surface Transport, Peter Hendy, said: "Bus travel in London is an increasingly popular choice with six million passenger trips a day.

"Recent customer service surveys reveal that passengers are happier than ever with the quality of service the bus network is now offering.

"This new advertising campaign aims to encourage families to take advantage of these improvements."
