Transport for London

Tube, Bus, DLR and Tram to run all night on NYE

14 December 2004

Transport for London (TfL) today announced that, as last year, Tube services will run all night on New Year's Eve as Londoners celebrate and see in 2005.

Night buses and 24-hour bus services will run as normal, and DLR and Croydon Tramlink services will also run all night. Forty bus services which would normally operate only in daytime will also run overnight to provide extra transport links. All services, including the Tube, are free from 2345hrs to 0430hrs, sponsored by Fosters.

The central London Congestion Charge has also been suspended, for the first time, for the three working days between Christmas and New Year, including New Year's Eve, Friday, December 31, 2004.

On national rail services, many routes will have additional departures from midnight to 0200hrs. A number of routes will also run a special half-hourly service throughout the night, from 0300hrs to 0500hrs. Rail services will be free from 0030hrs to 0500hrs.

Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London said:
"This is great news for everyone planning to see in the New Year in London. Once again, the Tube, bus, DLR and tram services will run all night, right across London on New Year's Eve and will be free from just before midnight until 4.30am.

"So wherever Londoners choose to celebrate in the capital, they will be able to travel home safely."

The all night LU service means that the Tube will run continuously from the start of services on Friday, December 31, 2004 until they end at night the following day, January 1, 2005.

From 0300hrs on New Year's Day, the Tube will run a 15-minute service in central London and every 30-minute on branch lines in outer London.

DLR will run all night, with services every 15 minutes after 0130hrs. Croydon Tramlink will run throughout the night, with a limited service every 30 minutes.

Full information on Tube, bus, DLR and Croydon Tramlink services will be available from early December at all Tube stations and via the Transport for London website www.tfl.gov.uk or by calling London Travel Information on 020-7222 1234.
