Transport for London

Limehouse Link update

09 November 2005

The eastbound tunnel of the Limehouse Link is expected to be closed until the end of November.

Specialist contractors are working around the clock to repair the damage

Latest investigations have confirmed Transports for London's worst fears.

They show that the steel and concrete supports which hold up the cabling and lighting systems need total replacement.

This is a time-consuming and complicated engineering procedure.

Specialist contractors continue to work around the clock to repair the severe fire damage, but in the meantime the vital link from Central London to Docklands remains closed eastbound - resulting in congestion in the area.

TfL is urging drivers to consider alternative routes, and to use public transport, to avoid long delays.

It will continue to issue updates on the situation.
