|widget#369|The only children's hospice in London, Richard House has already received around £25,000 in donations from Stratford station, thanks to it's innovative "pay to pee" scheme, which sees literally every single 'penny spent' at the station's pay-to-use toilets donated to the hospice.This means that around £33,000 has now gone to the hospice as a result of fundraising at the station since June 2004.
- Events at the station ran from 1200 to 2000
- A wide range of activities took place on the day, including:
- local Pearly Kings and Queens
- live bands
- dance acts
- face painting
- a charity raffle
- karaoke
- Christmas carols from a local children's choir
- Since June 2004, nearly £33,000 has been donated by staff and customers at Stratford station for the Richard House Children's Hospice
- £25,000 (to date) has been raised from the 20p charge customers pay to use the toilets at the station
- The 'pay to pee' scheme was introduced in June 2004, and has also acted as a successful deterrent to the vandals and drug users who had previously mis-used the station's toilets
- It continues to operate, and any money raised will continue to go to Richard House
- Richard House Children's Hospice is the only children's hospice in London, and is located in West Beckton.
