New bus route for Greenwich

01 June 2006

A new bus service will be launched in Greenwich this Saturday, 3 June.

The new route is being introduced following extensive consultation

The new 129 service will run between North Greenwich Station and Greenwich town centre serving Greenwich Millennium Village, Odeon Cinema/Sainsburys, Woolwich Road and Trafalgar Road.

New route 129 provides a direct link between Greenwich Millennium Village and Greenwich town centre for the first time.

It also provides a direct service between the Woolwich Road area and Sainsbury's/Odeon Cinema.

The new service also meets requests for an additional service along the busway between Millennium Village and North Greenwich Station to supplement existing services.

On Mondays to Saturdays, daytime buses will run every 12 minutes and every 20 minutes during the evenings and on Sundays.

The route will be operated by Travel London using single-deck buses.

Clare Kavanagh, Director of Performance for London Buses, said: "The new route is being introduced following extensive consultation with stakeholders and local residents.

"This service is what people say they need as the area has undergone extensive redevelopment in recent years.

"More and more people are using buses across the city each year and our services are carefully planned to take people to exactly where they want to go."
