Congestion Charge operational from Friday 2 January after festive period suspension

29 December 2008

Transport for London (TfL) is reminding motorists that the Congestion Charge will be operational from Friday 2 January 2009, after the festive period suspension.

For the fifth year running, motorists do not have to pay the Congestion Charge from Thursday 25 December until Thursday 1 January inclusive, when traffic levels are lighter.

Graeme Craig, TfL's Director of Congestion Charging and Traffic Enforcement, said: 'The Congestion Charge will operate as usual from 2 January so, while the start of this week remains charge-free, motorists will need to pay the charge to drive within the zone on Friday.'
