Farringdon station work to start soon

17 July 2008

Improvement works at Farringdon station are about to start, bringing a series of weekend closures to the Circle, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City lines and Thameslink services.

The works, starting next weekend, are part of the Thameslink upgrade programme.

The first closures start on Sunday, 27 July, and will allow EDF Energy to carry out electrical maintenance work in the area.

The following sections of lines will be closed:

Further closures will take place on some weekends between September and January.

This will allow Network Rail to construct a new, larger footbridge at the north end of the station.

More information about these closures will be available nearer the time.

During the works, valid Underground tickets will be accepted on alternative Tube and local bus routes.

Passengers are advised to allow an extra 45 minutes for their journeys.
