Curbing Camden's carbon footprint

14 July 2008

Camden Council unveiled five new electric vehicle recharging points on Friday to complement two it has been trialling since December last year.

The installations are designed to encourage people to switch from traditional petrol and diesel-powered vehicles to more environmentally friendly electric models.

Transport for London has provided financial support for the project, with the aim of raising more awareness on climate change issues.

As well as the new recharging points, an online environmental calculator called 'Travel footprint' has been developed.

Aimed primarily at companies that operate fleets of vehicles, it calculates their carbon footprint and the impact of various modes of transport on air quality.

It also contains information about the most fuel efficient and low emission vehicles, and calculates journey miles.
