Explore the East End's canals

25 June 2008

Residents and visitors to east London are being urged to explore the area's canals and leafy towpaths this summer as part of a British Waterways campaign.

The organisation is responsible for managing 100 miles of canals in London.

During its 'Yours to enjoy anytime' campaign, more than 10,000 local residents and visitors will be encouraged to explore some of the stunning 10km ring of waterways encompassing Regent's Canal, Limehouse Cut, River Lee Navigation and the Hertford Union Canal.

Transport for London and British Waterways have been working hard to improve conditions for cyclists and pedestrians along the sides of the canals.

More than £50,000 has been invested in improving the East End's towpaths along Regent's Canal and the Hertford Union Canal during the last two years.
