Refurb set to start at Russell Square

Russell Square station is set to undergo a refurbishment as part of Transport for London's Investment Programme.

Passengers will benefit from a redecorated station, plus more CCTV cameras and Help points to improve security, a new public address system, and a number of accessibility improvements including tactile strips on stairs.

Work will be conducted during planned weekend station closures on 14/15 and 28/29 June; 19/20 July; 9/10, 23/24 and 30/31 August; 6/7, 13/14 and 27/28 September; and 4/5 October.

Further closures may be announced later in the year.

During closures, passengers without a valid ticket should use the local Oyster ticket stop.

Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses 59, 91, 68, 168 and 188.

The works are expected to be completed by early spring 2009.
