Works at Waterloo

27 May 2008

Modernisation work started at Waterloo station yesterday to improve the ambience of the station and meet the needs of rapidly growing passenger numbers.

The work includes adding more CCTV cameras to improve customer safety and station security, new lighting in ticket halls, tactile aids for visually impaired passengers and improved signage around the station.

There are no plans to close the station during the works.

However, on some weekends either the Bakerloo or Northern lines trains will not stop at Waterloo - one of the lines will remain in service providing a direct link to Waterloo Tube station.

The first non-stopping train will run on the Bakerloo line at the end of May.
