Works continue at Edgware station

12 May 2008

EDGWARE station will be closed this weekend to allow for major improvements to continue, including works to make it step-free.

A rail replacement bus service will be running in both directions every 10 minutes from Burnt Oak to Edgware.

Valid ticket holders will also be able to use their tickets on bus routes 204, 251 and 305.

The works, which are expected to be completed in May 2010, mean passengers will benefit from new Help points, improved digital CCTV, a new public address system, enhanced information displays and new signage. The ticket hall is also being retiled and the entire station is being painted.

A range of accessibility features are also part of the plans.

These include tactile strips on stairs and colour contrasting handrails to help partially sighted people, and induction loops at Help points.

During the works, the ticket hall will not be available, passengers without a valid ticket should use the nearby Oyster ticket stops on Station Road. The drop-off point outside the station will not be accessible during weekends where the station is closed (see below).
