Shepherd's Bush improvements on track

07 May 2008

WITH work well underway, Tube passengers will benefit from a new and improved Shepherd's Bush Central line station due to open later this year.

There will be a larger, more spacious ticket hall with increased capacity and five extra ticket gates, new escalators, new customer information systems, CCTV and Help points.

Additionally there will be better seating, signage and lighting.

The station forms part of a brand new transport hub, which will feature Tube, buses, trains, taxis and cycle routes, and a new London Overground station on the West London line.

There will also be a new Tube station on the Hammersmith & City line to be called Wood Lane, and a new bus station, served by eight bus routes.

It's still easy to get to the area via Shepherd's Bush station on the Hamersmith & City line.

A frequent replacement bus service is running between White City station and Shepherd's Bush Green, and up to 10 extra buses an hour are running on route 148 between Shepherd's Bush Green and Holland Park/Notting Hill Gate stations.

The station is due to open in mid-October.
