Overground: Fare changes
Passengers using London Overground services are to benefit from a simpler fare structure which will result in an average fare reduction of 9p.
The changes, due to be introduced on 18 May, will make travel easier and, in many cases, cheaper.
They include some that were requested by passengers and others that will complete amendments made in January to reflect the introduction of Oyster pay as you go.
Many of the Cheap Day Returns have been withdrawn to provide a simpler range of fares where Oyster offers the best value.
However, customers requested that a small number of Cheap Day Returns be available to and from Richmond and these will continue.
A small number of price increases will be required on some routes but on 97 per cent of journeys, passengers will continue to pay their usual fare.
Where fares are increasing, people are advised to check if Oyster fares offer a cheaper alternative.
Shashi Verma, Transport for London's Director of Fares and Ticketing, said: 'Our priority is to provide a simple fares structure and offer the best value possible.
'And the simple-to-understand fares policy on London Overground, along with the introduction of the full range of Oyster ticketing, has been widely appreciated by passengers.'
Refurb at West Finchley
West Finchley Underground station is being refurbished to improve security, safety and ambience.
There will be new digital CCTV cameras, a public address system, help and information points, tactile strips for visually impaired people and improved signage and information boards.
This work is to be carried out at times when the station will be closed at weekends to minimise delays.
These weekends are: 31 May/1 June; 7/8, 14/15 and 21/22 June; and 30/31 August.
At these times the ticket office will be closed, passengers without a valid ticket are advised to use the local Oyster stop.
Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses 326, 82, 460, 125, N13 and N20.
