Transport for London

Website nominated in Internet Oscars

24 April 2008

Webby-Award TRANSPORT for London's (TfL's) website has been nominated this year for two awards in the internet equivalent of the Oscars.

The site, tfl.gov.uk, re-designed by TfL's new media team and technology consultancy Detica, was one of 8,000 entries from more than 600 countries considered by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

The body nominated TfL's website for excellence in its interactive design, creativity, usability and functionality.

Two honours - the Webby Award and the People's Voice Award - are presented in every category in each of its four entry types: websites; interactive advertising; online film and video; and mobile.

The People's Voice

The Academy members have the job of deciding the winner of the Webby, but it's up to the public to decide the People's Voice Award which garners hundreds of thousands of votes from all over the world.

TfL's site is the only one representing London and the UK in its category. The other nominees are Peace Corps, EnergyStar@home, San Francisco International Airport and the city site 'Secrets of New York'.
