Two-way traffic at Brixton gyratory

11 November 2009

THE road layout at Brixton Hill will return to two-way traffic on Sunday following a scheme to remove the one-way gyratory system.

The project, part of the Mayor's and Transport for London's (TfL's) town centre improvement work, is designed to smooth traffic flow.

It will allow road users to drive in both directions on Brixton Hill for the first time in decades.

New signs, road markings and temporary road barriers are currently being placed around Brixton Hill to highlight the new layout and help ensure a smooth transition to the new traffic system.

Police will be on site on Sunday morning to help manage traffic along Brixton Hill and St Matthew's Road, and TfL will continue to monitor traffic flows following the switchover.
