Keep walking this winter

12 November 2009

TRANSPORT for London (TfL) is encouraging the public to keep walking this winter with today's launch of new web pages, containing a wealth of news and features.

Why not put your best foot forward and walk as part of your journey to work, join a guided walk, or take a Sunday stroll?

Go to tfl.gov.uk/walking for suggestions and ideas to get you started.

And remember, you can use tfl.gov.uk/walkingjourneyplanner to plan your way around as it gives you a printable map of your route and the time it will take to get to your destination.

Did you know....

Many Tube journeys in central London could be faster to walk once you take into account the time it takes to get in and out of the station, and transfer between trains.

You may be surprised how often you can swap the Underground for a brisk walk in the fresh air.

The following journeys are easily walkable; go to TfL's walking journey planner to see for yourself:

So, check for yourself and take a walk this winter.

Wrap up warm, plan your journey and be inspired by all the capital has to offer.
