Family firework displays in the capital

WITH winter approaching, why not brighten up your evening with one of many firework displays taking place throughout London this week?

With everything from bands and funfairs, to mulled wine and lantern displays - there's something for everyone, wherever you live in the city.

North

Alexandra Palace

Enjoy a Bavarian-themed 'oompah' band, beer festival and food plus a children's disco and funfair in the park. There's also a set from Chas And His Band (from Chas and Dave). London's largest fireworks display takes place on Saturday with the fireworks starting at 7.30pm. Entry is £4 for adults, £2 for children, there is and a family viewing area which costs £5 for adults and £3 for children, or £12 for a family ticket.

Walker Ground

Mulled wine, food stalls, children's rides and music take over this cricket ground for one night only on Saturday. The park gates open at 5pm and the fireworks start at 8pm. Prices for adults are £6, for under-16s £4, under-4s go free, and advance family tickets are available for £14.

Battersea Park

Love is the theme of this year's display, which will be set to a modern music score. Taking place on Saturday, the gates will open at 6pm, the bonfire is at 7.30pm and the fireworks start at 8.30pm. Adult tickets are £6 and under-10s pay just £1.

Blackheath Common (free)

Expect a colourful show set to music on Saturday, with food and drink stalls. The fireworks will start at around 8pm.

Victoria Park (free)

Called 'Great Balls of Fire', this event has themed fireworks set to a retro 50s soundtrack. Taking place on Saturday, the funfair will be open from 2pm, food and drink will be available from 5pm, and the fireworks will start at 7.30pm. The park closes at 9pm.

Waltham Forest Town Hall

A funfair, music, food and drink can all be found at this Thursday's Guy Fawkes show. The price for adults is £4, children and senior citizens £3, and under-5s go free. Gates open at 6pm and the fireworks start at 8pm.

Bishops Park

Check out the funfair and food stalls at Fulham's firework show before being dazzled by the display. Taking place on Friday, the gates open at 6.30pm. There's a children's firework display at 7.15pm and the main show at 8pm. Prices are £6 for adults or £4 in advance, and under-5s go free.

Roundwood Park (free)

Hot dogs and ice cream plus a funfair will add to the excitement at this west London display on Thursday. The firework show will start at 8pm.
