A spooky day at the museum

28 October 2009

November 1 is the 'Day of the Dead' at the British Museum.

The event celebrates the annual Mexican festival where families gather to remember the dead.

Among the highlights will be processions of performers, musicians and dancers, dressed in carnival-style costumes made to look like skeletons and La Katrinas (Lady Death) made of papier mache.

There'll also be storytelling and a skeleton trail through the galleries for families to follow.

The day complements the existing 'Moctezuma: Aztec Ruler' exhibition which explores the world of the Aztecs and traces the foundation of modern Mexico through the last elected ruler.

While there is no entry charge for the Day of the Dead event, there is an admission fee for the Moctezuma exhibition.
