New station for west London
The £7.8million station, in the new Imperial Wharf development, provides local residents with a connection to London Overground and the rail network for the first time.
Services now link Fulham, Chelsea and West Brompton with the major transport interchanges of Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction.
A trip to Westfield London shopping centre from Imperial Wharf takes just nine minutes.
The station, which is partly funded by Transport for London (TfL) and was completed ahead of schedule, features Oyster ticketing, a staffed ticket office, step-free access, CCTV, plus the latest security and information technology.
It is served by new air-conditioned trains, which have increased capacity, walk-through carriages and driver-monitored CCTV for improved security.
The Mayor said: 'The building of this stylish new station is an example of what can be achieved when private investment and local government work together for a common goal.
'It can only serve to encourage inward investment and help bring new businesses and jobs to an area that, although a neighbour to the high-fliers of Chelsea Harbour, has long been in need of the regeneration that is now taking place.'
From 2011, it will be served by four London Overground trains per hour all day, every day.
Southern trains also call at the station. Imperial Wharf was funded by the developer St George (£4.8million), the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (£1.3million), TfL (£1million) and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (£650,000).
