Green Park escalator works

FROM Sunday until mid-October, there will be a reduced escalator service at Green Park Tube.

This is to allow for works to take place to provide step-free access to the Underground station; part of London Underground's commitment to transform the Tube.

During the works, the two remaining escalators will run - one upwards and the other downwards.

Pocket your work of art

PASSENGERS can soon pick up their very own artwork.

British artist, and Turner Prize winner, Richard Long has designed the next Pocket Tube map cover, which will be available free at Tube stations from next month.

Called Earth, the design shows the different colours of the Tube lines stacked on top of each other, with the black grid between them denoting the Northern line.

This echoes the format of an I Ching hexagram symbolising 'Earth', a figure composed of six stacked horizontal lines from the ancient Chinese Book of Changes.

The work was commissioned by Art on the Underground, London Underground's art programme, to offer passengers a moment of contemplation while travelling.

Northern line work update

COLLIERS Wood station is undergoing refurbishment work to make it safer and improve customer information.

The station will close at 10pm, Sunday to Thursday, from Monday to December 24.

While the early closures take place, trains will not stop at the station and the ticket office will also be closed.

Passengers are advised to use local buses to complete their journey.

Valid tickets will be accepted on bus routes 131 and 219, which serve Colliers Wood from Tooting Broadway, and route 152, which serves Colliers Wood from South Wimbledon.

It is recommended to leave an extra 15 minutes for journeys in case of delay.
