Transport for London

Great deals on river trips

27 August 2009

TO celebrate the annual Mayor's Thames Festival, taking place from September 12-13, all major river transport operators are offering two-for-one ticket deals for revels and romance on the river.

A river cruise offers a relaxed perspective on historic and modern London, and Thames Clippers' high-speed boats are a pleasurable and reliable way to travel from Woolwich to Westminster, or indeed any of the 12 piers in between.

The Mayor's Thames Festival is London's largest free arts festival with events taking place between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge.

Alight at any of the following piers and be within easy reach of fun festival activities: London Eye Millennium, Festival, Blackfriars Millennium, Bankside, London Bridge City and St Katharine's.

The weekend's highlights include a magical fire installation in front of Tate Modern, a feast on Southwark Bridge (pictured below), freerunning, swing dancing, trapeze, a village fête, world craft, a choir and a night carnival.

Finishing with a stunning fireworks display from the river.
