By 2012, in time for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the station will be completely step-free.
The improvements will include:
- The installation of three lifts to provide step-free access from street level to all platforms, and between all three lines serving the station
- A new larger station entrance on the south side of Piccadilly replacing the entrance that was closed in July 2009
- A new ramped walkway from the station into the park
- Other improvements that will be completed this year as part of the station modernisation include more CCTV coverage, new Help points, signage and wall tiling, plus the installation of new electronic information displays in the ticket hall and on all platforms.
