Major Projects
People living and working in London deserve a quality transport system. Major Projects Business Unit aims to:
- Develop new infrastructure
- Expand the system
- Reduce congestion
- Increase accessibility
- Assist regeneration and development
It is our role to take schemes from early inception, through feasibility and design development to gaining statutory consents, along with funding, ready for handover to one of TfL's modal organisations for implementation.
Our programme of work consists of a diverse portfolio of challenging projects within TfL's 5-Year Investment Programme. These include:
- Cross River Tram, a tram route running from Kings Cross and Camden via Euston and Waterloo, to Peckham and Brixton. The 16.2 km route is planned to be almost entirely on street and will carry 65 million passengers a year.
- Interchange Programme, consisting of the development of a number of interchange projects prioritised in accordance with a London wide Interchange Plan taking account of modal, property development and other relevant factors.
- Stratford Regional Station, the redevelopment of an existing rail, LUL and DLR station to accommodate growth and handle passengers attending the 2012 Olympics.
