What we are doing
Depending on your needs, we may be able to help you through pre-assessment training, assistance with understanding how to complete the application form and general advice on the application and recruitment process.
Other ways we are attracting people from specific groups include:
- Registering vacancies with local employment agencies with strong community links
- Offering interviews to job-ready candidates
- Specifying skills requirements and appropriate training for potential applicants to relevant agencies
- Working with local schools and further education colleges to offer work placements and apprenticeships within the workplace
- Providing support and development for those appointed
- Implementing best practice in areas such as: equal opportunities in recruitment; selection and promotion; and family working practices, including flexible working arrangements
Background
We signed up to the Employer Accord Agreement in October 2006, an initiative from the London Employment and Skills Taskforce for the 2012 Olympics.
It is one of the many ways in which we can benefit Londoners in terms of employment and inclusion as well as keeping the capital moving.
Worklessness is the main contributor to child poverty in the Capital. The Employer Accord aims to have provided 75,000 jobs by 2012 to Londoners who are not currently working. We want to be in the forefront of providing equal opportunities to all seeking employment.
