Apprenticeships main image

About 24 million journeys are made every day by both visitors and Londoners. Our job is to consider their safety, health and comfort, as well as our impact on the environment and air quality in particular. We also have to carry out works on our services with the least inconvenience to our customers and historical structures, both above and below ground.

We're a complex organisation with 28,000 staff based in different locations across the city. Our diverse mix of employees already help us to understand customer's needs and we want that to continue in the future. One way to ensure this is through our apprenticeship schemes which giveĀ us a direct pipeline to the best talent. Our apprentices are taught by industry experts and gain the kind of on-the-job skills and experience we need to pass on throughout the workforce.

Our areas include:

  • London Buses
  • London Underground (LU)
  • Docklands Light Railway (DLR)
  • London Overground (LO)
  • London Tramlink (Trams)
  • London River Services
  • Victoria Coach Station
  • Barclays Cycle Hire
  • Emirates Air Line

We're also responsible for:

  • Managing the Congestion Charge
  • Maintaining many main roads and all of London's traffic lights
  • Regulating the taxis and private hire trade
  • The Dial-a-Ride service and Taxicard scheme for people with impaired mobility
  • A range of walking and cycling initiatives

Each mode falls in to one of three key areas: Rail and Underground, Surface Transport or Specialist Services. This year, we have a diverse range of apprenticeship schemes available to apply for, each listed under one of these key areas.

*One candidate, one application*

We can only accept one scheme application per candidate. Applying for more than one scheme could mean that you won't be considered for your preferred choice.
