Borough partnerships

borough-map-small Building effective partnerships with the boroughs is essential Transport for London's (TfL's) good working relationship with the 33 London boroughs is central to its role in improving transport across the Capital.

London's boroughs are the local planning, highway and traffic authorities. They play an important role in delivering many of the improvements set out in the London Plan and the Mayor's Transport Strategy.

The boroughs work closely with TfL to provide a range of local transport initiatives. These include road safety schemes, town centre improvements and walking and cycling projects.

The Borough Planning team

The Borough Planning team has a key role to play in defining and developing our relationship with the boroughs. Key tasks of the team include the following:

TfL and the borough officers are in regular contact on a range of transport issues and the Borough Planning team does not handle all interfaces with the boroughs. However they are available to advise and ensure subject experts are in put in direct contact where appropriate.
