Borough partnerships
London's boroughs are the local planning, highway and traffic authorities. They play an important role in delivering many of the improvements set out in the London Plan and the Mayor's Transport Strategy.
The boroughs work closely with TfL to provide a range of local transport initiatives. These include road safety schemes, town centre improvements and walking and cycling projects.
The Borough Planning team
The Borough Planning team has a key role to play in defining and developing our relationship with the boroughs. Key tasks of the team include the following:
- Regular meetings with senior officers and members in each borough to ensure progress on key transport projects
- Regular email bulletins to all councillors in London
- Management of the five sub regional panels with borough officers and business representatives
- Management of the Borough Extranet for borough officers
TfL and the borough officers are in regular contact on a range of transport issues and the Borough Planning team does not handle all interfaces with the boroughs. However they are available to advise and ensure subject experts are in put in direct contact where appropriate.
