How to apply to become a driver.
We license all of London's taxi drivers.
You must have a licence if you want to work and you must be a UK or EU citizen, or have the right to stay and work in the UK.

Licence types
With 25,000 members, taxi drivers are part of a large family
You can apply for two licence types - the All London licence or the Suburban licence.
Of the 25,000 taxi drivers in London, over 21,000 hold the All-London or 'green badge' license and can work throughout Greater London.
The rest are licensed for various suburban areas of London and hold the Suburban or 'yellow badge'.
