Skills assessment

All taxi drivers need topographical skills. These include the ability to use a road atlas and an A-Z. They also include knowledge of the points of the compass and the motorway network.

If you're applying for the first time you must provide evidence of your topographical skills before you can have a private hire vehicle driver licence.

You'll have to sit an exam to demonstrate your topographical skills and personal knowledge of London.
